Practice Partner ASP Requirements

Broadband Internet Connection:

To access Practice Partner ASP from the medical office, users need to have a broadband internet connection. We highly recommend a dedicated, always-on Internet connection such as a fractional or full T1. A broadband connection such as DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) or cable may also be an option.

Workstations:

  • Pentium III 833MHz or better
  • 256MB RAM
  • 8 GB hard drive minimum
  • 100-Base T Ethernet card or better
  • Super VGA card & color monitor
  • Mouse or other pointer device
  • CD-ROM
  • Windows XP Pro or 2000

Practice Partner ASP Security

Data security is the top priority for Practice Partner ASP. Because we utilize a Virtual Private Network (VPN) architecture, data communication travels through a secured pathway from and to each site. The VPN connections are encrypted using triple DES encryption and authenticated using RSA's SecurID protocols, with firewalls at both ends of the connection.

Data Encryption:

We employ triple DES encryption to protect privacy while information is in transit across the Internet.

RSA SecurID:

Practice Partner ASP employs the latest SecurID authentication technology that sets up a barrier that is much stronger than a conventional password system. It combines something a users knows (a five digit PIN) with an unique six digit code that changes every 60 seconds and is specific to the user and the time. Each user is given a key-chain like device that generates the new codes continuously for three years. Only when these two authentication factors are validated is access granted.

Firewall Technology:

The firewall protects your data at both ends of the link. At the ASP end, it authenticates all users and prevents intrusions. At the VPN client end, it protects your individual workstation.
